In honor of my birthday today (buongiorno late-20’s – I am now 28 years old, wow!) I wanted to share this contest with you guys and wish you luck. After all, it is friday the 13th today and you know on the 13th anything can happen – cue scary music.
I heard about this contest going on until July 31 from a lovely lady at Alma Books publishing house in London. The prize of this contest in an InterRail pass around Europe for two lucky winners. Awesome! Can i go?
Why are they doing this? To promote the release of their new book InterRail by Alessandro Gallenzi and his travels.
To win you have to answer the following question: If you won an InterRail pass where would you go?
Email your travel plan followed by your name, age and address to [email protected], the winners will be chosen by author Alessandro Gallenzi who will pick the most interesting travel plans. The pass itself allows the winner 5 days of train travel during a 10 day period.
Competition ends 31st July 2012, open only to EU residents, you must be 18 or over to enter. There will be two separate winners each winning their own pass.

About the book:
The novel InterRail, born out of Alessandro Gallenzi’s own experiences as a young InterRail traveller, is a celebration of a life of freedom and a Europe without boundaries. It tells the story of Francesco, embarking on his first trip outside his native Italy on an incredible journey that will see him fall in love in Sweden, lose all his money in Amsterdam, sleep rough in London, win big in Monte Carlo and get caught up in an international imbroglio.
*The InterRail Global Pass is valid on the national railways of these 30 countries:
Austria, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, FYR Macedonia, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey.
Looks like a pretty sweet deal to me and I encourage you to go for it, and my advice is to think outside the box and be creative. Talking about the magic of going through the “chunnel” probably isn’t going to cut it. I am waiting for my copy of the book myself, which lets hope I love. In any case if because you read this blog post and won the contest, why not visit Florence and buy me a drink? 😉
